From Jan. 2025 I will also be transcribing McBey's 1909-1959 diaries as part of a year-long project with Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums, home to the world's largest McBey archive
I have worked as a journalist since 2002 and have filed stories from the likes of Amman, Beirut, Cairo, Freetown & Madrid as well as my home city of Glasgow. In 2023/24 I was a Senior Producer for Al Jazeera English (AJE) in its online team. Today I contribute stories to AJE in a freelance capacity.
SHADOWS & LIGHT, my biography of the swashbuckling Scottish-American artist James McBey, was published by Edinburgh's Scotland Street Press in 2022. I have given talks about it in cities such as Edinburgh, London and Tangier.
Brexit and the Scottish independence debate have made up a large proportion of my writings in recent years. Latterly, however, I have covered Israel's genocidal war on Gaza from a European perspective.
